In therapy, a special, confidential relationship develops, separate and apart from the rest of the daily life and relationships of the client. In this relationship the client is able to talk about concerns, conflicts, fears, and needs to someone other than family or friends. Elaine seeks to create a safe and comfortable place for clients to talk about sensitive, private matters. Her style is conversational and interactive, and encourages clients to be curious about themselves and their lives. She provides an experience of emotional safety where issues can be explored, processed and understood. Her areas of expertise are in working with clients in life transitions, moving from youth into adulthood, dealing with losses, relationships, careers and dreams. She has worked with those struggling to make sense of how experiences of the past continue to impact their lives in the present. She provides a place for self reflection and healing, where hope can be found for moving forward in a new direction. Elaine has a background working with adults and adolescents in individual, couples, and family therapy. She has taught parenting classes, led groups for sexual abuse survivors, taught Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups, and couples communication groups. She has experience working in residential treatment centers, inpatient hospitals, outpatient treatment centers, and in private practice. Elaine has her Masters in the Science of Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado. She is trained as a Supervisor for Licensed Social Workers and MA’s working toward advanced licensure. |
